  Lingerie Slips

By the definition of the word lingerie a slip definitely falls into this category, it may not be the type of lingerie you were thinking about. A slip is worn between a dress and a skirt and your bare legs. The purpose of the slip is so that the dress of skirt will lay better once it is on your body. It prevents your skin from chafing with the material of the garment you are wearing. Slips are worn in the winter for warmth and also in the warmer months, it is used to protect certain fabrics from sweat.

There are different types of slips; there is the full slip which is a slip that hangs from the shoulders and goes down to skirt length. It is basically a slip dress. The straps are very thin and it covers your whole body as opposed to this next slip. The half slip, this style of slip is like skirt, it covers from the waist to skirt length. They are always made a little shorter so you do not constantly hear “your slip is showing” throughout the day.

Slips are generally made from a very smooth material such as silk, satin, nylon and polyester. It may have some type of decoration on the top like lace but not all do. Back in the 50’s, it was not proper for a lady to go out with a slip on. Today, slips are a part of dressing because that is how today’s woman wants to dress.
