A corset back in the day was a traditional garment that was worn by a woman to shape and mold her upper body into a desired form. These corsets were worn strictly for two reasons, one reason is because they looked good to men and the second reason was for medical reasons. Corsets were worn as early as the 1800’s. It is noted that throughout time, both men and women have been known to wear a corset, though it is a women’s garment.
Corsets look very uncomfortable, they look stiff and they look very hard to move in. But there are women who like the look of a corset and would not mind wearing one out to dinner or a party. Goth fashions cater to the corsets and with Goth being popular the corset is finding its way back. The corset tops have lace or boning materials on them to give them more of a style. They come in almost any color you can imagine.
The corset is a tight fitting top; there are adjustments on the garment, so you can decide how tight you want your corset to be. They are great for one reason; they can really shape a body into something it wasn’t. Corsets do have a very flattering look about them. You can find them in any lingerie shop or specialty store.
