Baby doll lingerie is a short nightgown or negligee worn by women. This type of night gown is usually decorated with lace, ruffles ribbons, small bows and beads. They also come in very soft and often sheer materials such as silk, chiffon or nylon. The straps are either spaghetti straps or 1 inch straps. The night gown is cut about 6 inches above the knee and it looks like a mini dress and have V necks or even scoop necks. Baby dolls are considered to be very sexy by men.
The name of this type of lingerie was brought about in 1956 when a movie of the same name starring actress, Carroll Baker. After the emergence of this type of night gown, shops and boutiques began to carry these different styles and colors of the newest fashion trend. Back in the day, baby doll night gowns were sexy buy classy. But today, the baby doll is considered more of a trashy type of night gown. You still have the nice respectable baby dolls but you also have the trashy versions.
Some of these baby dolls come in sets, they come with a bathrobe and matching slippers. Baby doll gowns inspired a line of shirts called the baby doll T shirt. The baby doll dresses from the 50’s and 60’s are collectibles now, because they are not made the same way anymore.
